There has been a recall by FCA Australia on 2012-2013 (KK) Jeep Cherokees.  

The recall notice states that ‘An internal failure in the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) may result in the inability to deploy an Active Headrest (AHR) function during certain rear-end crashes.’   The hazard is stated as ‘The Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) on the vehicle may cause an airbag warning lamp to illuminate due to an internal failure in the ORC. This may result in the inability to deploy the Active Headrest (AHR) function. The inability to deploy the AHR function during certain rear-end crashes may increase the risk of injury to front seat occupants during such rear-end crashes.’

The notice states that FCA Australia will notify owners by sending a courtesy letter, until replacement parts become available. Once the replacement parts become available, owners will receive a second letter advising to schedule a service booking with their nearest Chrysler Jeep Dodge repair centre, who will inspect the ORC and replace it if necessary.
