ACC Donates to Shepparton Charity
RV Club Thanks Shepparton with Donation to Charity
The Australian Caravan Club (ACC) has donated $2,000 to The Community Fund Goulburn Valley as a gesture of thanks to the Shepparton community for the welcome extended to Club members during its annual muster in October, ACC Chairman Craig Humphrey said today.
The Community Fund Goulburn Valley raises funds and identifies groups in need of support in the Goulburn Valley local area. On its webpage, the Group guarantees that funds raised stay in the local area to support projects, causes and groups including, but not exclusively, children and learning opportunities, the disabled, the elderly and struggling families, many of whom do not qualify for government support.
“Members of the ACC were made most welcome by the people of Shepparton and its surrounding communities during our national muster at the Shepparton Showground last month,” Club Chairman Craig Humphrey said today. “This contribution is our way of saying a big thank you and giving something back in return.”
“Hopefully coming this side of Christmas, our donation will help contribute towards brightening Christmas for some families in need.”
The $2,000 cheque was presented to Cheryl Hammer, the Chief Executive Officer of The Community Fund Goulburn Valley by outgoing ACC Chairman Tom Smith during the Club’s Shepparton national muster.
200 RVs comprising almost 400 people travelled to Shepparton Showground last month for the ACC’s 10th Annual National Muster. Club members attending the muster stayed for seven to ten days, attending Club activities and seminars, visiting local wineries, a packing shed, SPC, Dookie College and other tourist attractions, purchased groceries, dined out and supported local businesses.
“The donation is in addition to the injection by Club members of over $200,000 into the economy of Shepparton and its surrounds by Club members during their stay,” Mr Humphrey said.
